Embracing Life’s Necessary Hard Times

Embracing Life Hard TimesHard times are all around us. We need to learn to embrace them because they are necessary. Nothing beautiful comes about without great challenges, pressure, and change. This is part of life and while it is not “fun” these times should be cherished for what they are – making you a better you. What qualifies for hard times for each person is different. Some may be going through financial troubles, battling depression or anxiety, or dealing with unemployment. Sometimes I feel like my life has been one tough time after another, but in reality, even during the hard times there can be joy and peace.

People often fear the big transitions in life, as if in denial that change is
happening for us, inside and out, at every moment. We simply cannot remain the
same, and the people around us will not, either. This is actually a good thing, but it can be hard. The need to hold on to conditions as they are will only make us unhappy and fearful– because life is made up of change after change– some big, some small; some expected, many sudden; some joyful, some painful. This is the nature of life. If you don’t like the season you are in, take heart– it will change. If you are in love with what is going on around you, drink it in– because that will change somehow, too.   —-Ariana Mullins, Pruned

That is the biggest lesson I have taken away from the book Pruned written by my friend Ariana  Mullins who also blogs here at And Here We Are.  That life is all about change. Change is often hard, many times good, but always inevitable.   Ariana does a lovely job of giving hope to readers that are experiencing hard times by using personal experiences, sage advice, and inspirational quotes for how to handle these situations. Her suggestions include journaling, taking a walk in nature, and other simple and delightful pleasures that we often don’t think are ways to cope with stress, but are necessary to help us transition and change.
This is an excellent read for anyone going through a hard time and a lot of change. If you are feeling overwhelmed by life’s circumstances, hopeless that things will never change, or anxious because of change then this is a great book to read. It is simple, relatively short, and just beautifully written. Get your copy here today.
